Manuscripts submitted for review should extend knowledge in any child/family welfare or related service; on any aspect of administration, supervision, casework, group work, community organization, teaching, research, or interpretation; on any facet of interdisciplinary approaches to the field; or on issues of social policy that bear on the welfare of children and their families.

Manuscripts should be 3,500-6,000 words in length, including tables, graphs, and references. An abstract of approximately 75 words should preface the article. All references should be documented according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.).

Please use people-first language and non-labeling language (i.e., “children in foster care,” not “foster children”; “children who have experienced maltreatment,” not “maltreated children”) in your manuscript.

Fill out the submission form below. Typically, the peer review process takes 4 to 6 weeks; an accepted article will be published within 6 to 8 months.

If you have submitted a paper for review, please only send inquiries to journal@cwla.org after a period of 8 weeks. Authors are notified of the results of the review by email. Publication of an article does not imply endorsement of the author’s opinions; differences of opinion are welcome.
