National Adoption Day 2005 - November 19
National Adoption Day is a collective national effort to raise awareness about the 118,000 children in foster care waiting to find permanent, loving families. Now in its sixth year, National Adoption Day has made the dreams of thousands of children come true by working with courts, judges, attorneys, and advocates to finalize their adoptions into permanent families and to celebrate adoption.
National Adoption Day happens every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. On Saturday, November 20, 2004, judges, attorneys, child welfare agencies and advocates in 37 states helped to finalize the adoptions of more than 3,400 children from foster care. More than 200 events were held nationwide to finalize adoptions and celebrate and honor all families who adopt.
