It’s not too late to help families claim the expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC), which provides up to $3,600 per child! More than 4 million kids, primarily those in households with low incomes, are at risk of missing out on the CTC. While the tax filing deadline has passed, families with no or low incomes can still file to claim the CTC without penalty. The simplified online filing portal, GetCTC.org/CWLA, relaunched in May; created by Code for America in collaboration with the U.S. government, it makes it easier for families with no or low incomes to claim the credit on their own.

You can help spread the word about the CTC! Check out this new CTC outreach website from the Coalition on Human Needs and the Partnership for America’s Children, which includes CTC webinar recordings for community partners, as well as multilingual flyers and sample text/email/robocall messages that programs can use to communicate to families about the CTC. You DO NOT have to be tax experts to help families claim the credit.

If you would like to learn more about the how to help families claim the CTC in this post-tax season time, you can join our upcoming webinar on Thursday, August 4th at 2:00pm in partnership with the Coalition on Human Needs and the Partnership for America’s Children. Register here to learn more! We will be discussing how families can still access the CTC, updates on eligibility, the new GetCTC portal, and more.
